Who you calling a freak?

I've been called a lot of things in my day, but yesterday was the first time I was called a freak.  Or at least the first time someone said it to my face.  Um, I thought I was friends with this person & know she didn't mean it in a bad way. But seriously, is there really a good way to mean it when you call someone a freak?

This is not a self portrait.

This is not where I go shopping.

You guessed it, my feelings were immediately hurt.  Which means I need to grow a thicker skin.  What on earth would make anyone think I was an "Edward Freak".  I didn't even know that was a word. Twihard - you bet.  Robsessed - for sure.  Twitarded - proudly.  A Freak?  What The Forks does that mean.

My first reaction was that I wanted to tell her how much better Rob was than Edward.  Rob is so humble and modest in the face of unexpected fame.  He stays true to his old friends.  Not to mention the wide range of films he has acted in, his musical abilities and sense of humor.

Of course I also wanted to go on and on about how much I loved Emmett & Kellan.  Kellan is so sexy.  I love his sense of humor.  He has also used his unexpected fame to promote a number of charities.

Somehow I didn't think going on and on about either topic would help my case.  Personally I prefer the term Twi-Pusher to Edward Freak.  Tell me in the comments if what you think.  Are you proud of being a freak?  Would you deck anyone who called you a freak?  Does the idea of someone calling you that make you want to hide in the closet and cry?

  1. I call my closest friends and family "freaks"...as a joke. Like we're all sitting around and my Sister says something bizarre so I look at her and say "you're such a freak!"
They all know to take it jokingly...so it totally depends on the person and the context.

By the way, my name is Jen and I'm a Robsten Freak ;)

    Just sayin'!

  2. they called you an 'edward freak' lol ahhh that's nothing, TM.

I get, "you and your vampires!" or "you're all Robbed up" and "read another book!" etc

I would just create your own preference on what you would like to be called and correct any person next time.

    "You're an Edward freak."
"I prefer the term Twitarded" or say what I say, "That may be, but at least I know I'm not the only one." :)

  3. Thanks for helping me put the Freak Comment in perspective. After all, I think nothing of being call weird or crazy. Why would freak be any different?

Friday & Saturday I was very sensitive about everything. Don't know why, might have something to do with a birthday coming up. Or maybe I just need more meds.

  4. Ha! Hormones!

Your post made me think back to the olden days when I was in college. At the time, the term du jour for "hippies" was "freak". We proudly let our freak flags fly. This just goes to prove that I will be older than dirt when I celebrate my birthday later this month. And I'm still crazy after all these year!
